Interliterature is an original transdisciplinary research space created by OMBEiK staff within hermeneutic, postmodern and postanthropic interpretative practices. It encompasses the various modalities taking root in literature and their associated traditional as well as recent media forms. The source of our research area is the fascination with textualisation inherent in postmodern thinking, the interest in various transformations, oscillations and interferences that govern the overt and covert strategies of transition from the painting to the text. This dialogue of words and images has been developed for many years by Professor Anna Pilch together with a complementary model of ethical reading, aimed at shaping freedom, subjectivity and human awareness successively constructed by her. Hence, the basic feature of interliterature is its dialogical nature, understood as the art of combining the visual and the verbal with interpretation, following traces that are both educational, revealing, initiatory and transgressive. Within the framework of the research carried out at OMBEiK, a kind of clearing between the weaves of the text becomes important. These are the crumbs of the lives of the authors themselves, their ‘intellectual symposia’, the cultural contexts carried by literature, the ethical layers revealed in the texts or the forms of thinking about the world frozen in them. Moreover, the very inter– itself points to the constant balancing of literature at the boundaries of various modalities, diverse discourses, as well as to the dialogues constructed between researchers. Interliterature is thus a space for multidimensionality, for conversations and encounters, for the negotiation of meanings. It is what stretches between theory and interpretation, intuition and criticism, at the boundaries of sciences, disciplines, humanities and criticism, between method and practice. At the same time, it provides a space for dialogue between the viewer and the text, reading, writing and the search for and production of meaning. It is “from this INTER, as Tadeusz Sławek wrote in his essay Świątynia i labirynt (Eng. The Temple and the Labyrinth), that we can approach a field of study. The INTER category is […] the most important concept of the humanist’s discourse”. Interliterature thus becomes for us both a tool of interpretation and an established space for acute and caring scientific reflection on man in his relation with the world.
