 Monograph lecture

The lecture Polish Studies Education in the Face of Tradition and Modernity aims to make students aware of the role of the Polish Language and Literature teacher in the transmission and reinterpretation of tradition. In the course of said lecture, Polish Studies education is shown as a continuous process of cultural transmission, taking into account, however, the historical variability of literary and cultural phenomena. Within the framework of the workshop presented here, reflection is also undertaken on didactic, philosophical and sociological currents influencing post-modern literary, linguistic and cultural education. Furthermore, reflections are carried out on school ways of reception of ancient and recent texts of culture and their role in the process of shaping students’ national identity in the age of democracy and multiculturalism. The aim of the course is also to prepare students to take up the challenges set before the Polish Language and Literature teacher in times of technicization, globalisation, domination of multimedia messages and mutual interaction and interpenetration of high and mass culture.
